Valencia en Fallas

Recently included in the intangible cultural heritage Unesco list, the Fallas in Valencia, Spain are a fantastic city celebration that attracts millions of people ever year.

It’s a celebration full colour, light and noise. Fireworks, huge sculptures like the one in the photo, traditional music, food and clothing are some of the most characteristic features of the event. It lasts for a few days and it takes place every March.

Ninots (the sculptures displayed all over the streets) can reach up to 30m height and after being admired for 5 days or so, visitors and locals alike say goodbye to them by setting them on fire and admiring the flames. It is spectacular.
